This is not a standard MEP QS role. It is a genuine opportunity to step into a business at the point where MEP commercial leadership is being built, not inherited. I am working with a highly regarded London-based fit out and refurbishment contractor delivering commercial workplace projects typically ranging from £1m to £20m+. The business has a strong reputation for quality delivery, technical capability and a modern, sustainability-led approach to construction. Its growth has been exceptional in recent years, and shows no sign of stopping. Its offices are possibly some of the best in London.
Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of technically complex projects, they are now looking to make their first dedicated MEP commercial hire. This role offers the chance to take ownership of all MEP commercial activity across the business, working closely with project teams, directors and technical leads. There is a clear pathway for this position to evolve into a company-wide MEP Commercial Lead role.
The opportunity:
- You will be the go-to MEP commercial specialist across multiple projects, with the autonomy to shape how MEP is commercially managed within the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full commercial management of MEP packages across Cat A, Cat B and refurbishment projects
- Procurement and management of MEP subcontractors
- Cost planning, reporting and commercial strategy input at project level
- Supporting pre-construction and tender processes with MEP input
- Working closely with technical and delivery teams to ensure commercial and operational alignment
- Building and developing MEP commercial processes as the function grows
Why this role stands out:
- First MEP QS hire in the business, genuine opportunity to build something from the ground up
- Clear progression into a leadership role overseeing all MEP commercial activity
- High level of autonomy and trust from senior leadership
- Exposure to technically interesting projects, including plant upgrades, complex refurbishments and sustainability-driven schemes
- Strong pipeline of London-based work with a stable and growing client base
What they are looking for:
- Proven experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor within a contractor or specialist environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical packages within commercial construction
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership of MEP commercial functions
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, design-integrated environment
- Ambition to step into a leadership role over time
This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants more than just another project role. It suits an MEP QS who is looking to take a step up, influence how a business operates, and grow into a senior leadership position.
