We’re working with an extremely highly regarded Main Contractor delivering complex refurbishment and fit-out projects across London. Known for their collaborative approach and strong client relationships, they are heavily involved in two-stage tendering, working closely with end clients from early design through to delivery.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Building Services Engineer to support their pre-construction and delivery teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain exposure to high-quality commercial projects and develop within a business that genuinely invests in its people.
The Role
You will work closely with senior engineers, commercial teams and pre-construction leads, supporting projects from tender stage through to delivery. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting two-stage tender processes, assisting with design development, cost planning and technical reviews
- Working alongside estimating and commercial teams to contribute to value engineering exercises, identifying cost-effective design solutions without compromising performance
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions
- Assisting with coordination between design, commercial and delivery teams
- Supporting procurement of MEP packages and supplier engagement
- Attending design and client meetings, gaining exposure to stakeholder management
- Assisting with site-based engineering support during project delivery
What They’re Looking For
- Degree or HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering or related discipline
- 1–3 years’ experience within an MEP contractor, consultancy or subcontractor environment
- Strong interest in pre-construction, design and value engineering
- Understanding of building services systems (mechanical and/or electrical)
- Keen to develop within a two-stage tendering environment
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
