An opportunity for an experienced MEP professional who enjoys the technical side of construction more than the day-to-day pressures of project delivery.
I'm working on an interesting opportunity with a leading Tier 1 main contractor, who is looking to appoint a technically strong Building Services professional into a specialist quality role.
They're looking for someone who genuinely understands building services engineering, can recognise technical problems before they become expensive mistakes, and has the confidence to challenge project teams when something isn't right.
Working across major construction projects, you'll be responsible for reviewing technical risks, inspecting MEP installations, identifying design and workmanship issues, and working with project teams to resolve problems before they affect the finished building.
The interesting part? You don't necessarily need a background in quality management.
The business is particularly interested in people from MEP Design Management, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Management and senior Building Services Management backgrounds.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- A strong technical engineering background, preferably mechanically biased.
- Experience working for an established main contractor or MEP contractor.
- A thorough understanding of building services design, installation and commissioning.
- The ability to identify design, buildability, coordination and installation risks.
- The confidence to challenge senior project teams and recommend practical solutions.
- Experience across major, technically complex construction projects.
This could be particularly appealing to someone who has spent years managing the technical delivery of MEP packages and would enjoy moving into a more independent, advisory position.
The employer is also open to considering less experienced quality professionals with strong technical potential at a lower salary.
