Freelance Building Services Manager – Preconstruction
Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Project: Film studio
Rate: Up to £500 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract: Initially 2–3 months, with the potential to extend
Start: ASAP
I’m recruiting a freelance Building Services Manager to support the preconstruction phase of a major film studio project in Borehamwood. Working for the main contractor, you’ll take responsibility for the Building Services design process and help prepare the M&E packages for construction.
Responsibilities
- Manage the M&E design process during preconstruction
- Coordinate information between the design team, consultants and M&E contractors
- Manage RFRs and ensure technical queries are closed out
- Review drawings, specifications and design information
- Help appoint and set up the M&E contractors ahead of starting on site
- Identify design, coordination and buildability issues
- Ensure the M&E packages are ready to move into construction
Experience required
- Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical services
- Previous preconstruction or design-management experience
- Main-contractor experience would be preferred
- Senior candidates from an M&E contractor will also be considered, provided they’ve overseen both mechanical and electrical packages
- Available to start at short notice
The initial requirement is for two to three months, although there’s a realistic possibility of an extension on this project or another scheme with the same contractor.
