We are recruiting a Divisional Director to lead the Data Centre Projects Division of an established engineering services and construction business.
This is a senior leadership position with full responsibility for the operational, commercial and strategic performance of a division delivering complex, mission-critical MEP projects.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead multidisciplinary teams across project management, engineering, commercial, planning, commissioning and health and safety.
You will also shape the division’s long-term growth strategy and report performance to the Executive Board.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the Data Centre Projects Division.
- Take ownership of divisional revenue, margin, profitability, budgets and forecasting.
- Develop and implement a five-year strategy for sustainable growth within the data centre sector.
- Oversee complex MEP projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, on programme and to the required technical standards.
- Maintain robust commercial controls, project governance and performance reporting.
- Build senior relationships with data centre operators, developers, consultants, main contractors and supply-chain partners.
- Support major tenders, bid reviews and the conversion of opportunities into secured projects.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and improvements to the division’s delivery model.
- Develop the divisional structure, succession plans and long-term resourcing strategy.
- Lead, develop and retain a high-performing senior management team.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures, construction legislation and HSQE requirements.
About you
You will be an established senior leader with a strong background delivering data centres, mission-critical facilities or similarly complex engineering projects.
You should be able to demonstrate
- At least 15 years’ experience within engineering, construction, data centres or mission-critical environments.
- A successful record of delivering large and technically complex MEP projects or programmes.
- Divisional, regional or business-unit leadership experience.
- Direct P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, margin management and commercial risk.
- Leadership of multidisciplinary project, engineering, commercial, planning and commissioning teams.
- A detailed understanding of data centre delivery, including pre-construction, design coordination, procurement, commissioning and handover.
- Experience developing business strategy and delivering sustainable growth.
- Strong relationships within the UK data centre market.
- Knowledge of NEC, JCT and other standard construction contracts.
- A degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS and a CSCS Black Manager Card.
