The IT Field Services Engineer is responsible for providing on-site and remote technical support to end users across multiple client locations. The role involves installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT hardware, software, and network infrastructure to ensure reliable and secure IT operations. The engineer will act as a key point of contact for resolving incidents, fulfilling service requests, and supporting business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site and remote IT support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows/macOS operating systems, standard business applications, and security tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues within agreed SLAs.
- Perform IMACD activities (Install, Move, Add, Change, Decommission) for end-user devices and IT equipment.
- Support Active Directory, user account management, group policies, and access permissions.
- Assist with network troubleshooting, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, switches, and basic firewall issues.
- Provide support for Microsoft 365, email systems, collaboration tools, and cloud-based applications.
- Coordinate with centralized service desk, network, and infrastructure teams to escalate complex issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, requests, asset inventory, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
- Conduct regular site visits, ensuring IT standards, security, and compliance requirements are met.
- Support IT rollouts, upgrades, hardware refresh programs, and new site setups.
- Ensure compliance with IT security policies, data protection standards, and health & safety guidelines.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service, communicating clearly with technical and non-technical users.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 years + Proven experience in a Field Services Engineer, IT Support Engineer, or Desktop Support role.
- Strong hands-on experience with: Windows 10/11, macOS, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint), Active Directory & Azure AD, Desktop/laptop hardware troubleshooting.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi).
- Experience working with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy, or similar).
- Ability to work independently at customer sites with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel between client locations as required.
