The predicted salary is between 36 - 60 £ per hour.

We are seeking experienced clinicians to join our team as Autism Clinical Assessors, working on a self-employed, ad-hoc basis, to support our Children & Young People autism assessment service.

The role involves undertaking clinical autism assessments and contributing assessment findings within a multidisciplinary diagnostic pathway, in line with service protocols and governance arrangements. Assessments are delivered primarily virtually, with face-to-face appointments offered where clinically indicated or requested, including at our Basingstoke clinic. Work will be offered on an ad-hoc basis in line with service demand.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake clinical autism assessments for children and young people in line with NICE guidance and Skylight Psychiatry protocols.
  • Gather, review and integrate information from multiple sources, including developmental history, questionnaires, observational data and collateral information.
  • Prepare and submit clear, high-quality clinical assessment reports within agreed timeframes.
  • Present assessment findings to the multidisciplinary team when required to support diagnostic decision-making.
  • Communicate sensitively and clearly with children, young people and their families throughout the assessment process.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records.
  • Work in line with all Skylight Psychiatry policies, procedures and core values.
  • Join Slack, the platform used by the team to communicate service updates and key information.
  • Remain up to date with current research and best practice in autism assessment.
Qualifications
  • Professional qualification relevant to autism assessment in children and young people (for example: Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry or equivalent).
  • Registration with a relevant professional body, with no restrictions on practice.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting autism assessments with children and young people.
  • Strong understanding of child development and neurodevelopmental presentations.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary assessment pathways.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • In-date training in line with CSTF requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly when working with families.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confidence in conducting assessments virtually.

We are a CQC-registered service delivering person-centred assessment, care and support, with the ultimate aim of improving the lives of people with neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.

Competitive fee per completed autism assessment (inclusive of assessment appointment(s), report writing and MDT contribution where required). This role is offered on a self-employed basis; the postholder is responsible for their own tax and national insurance arrangements. Assessments are delivered primarily virtually, with face-to-face appointments agreed in advance where required. Clinic room bookings for in-person appointments will be managed by our administrative team. Training on our patient record system will be provided. Invoicing is required monthly. Travel and related expenses cannot be reimbursed.
