Skylight Psychiatry is a forward thinking, dynamic mental health service.

We are a CQC registered service delivering person-centred assessment, care and support, with our ultimate aim being to improve the lives of people with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, Autism and Learning disabilities.

Role Purpose

The Marketing & Communications Manager is a senior operational role responsible for the strategic development and delivery of all marketing and communications activity across Skylight Psychiatry.

Sitting at OMT level, this role leads on positioning Skylight as a leading provider of ADHD and Autism assessment services, driving growth across both NHS Right to Choose and private pathways through targeted marketing, stakeholder engagement, and business development partnerships.

The post holder will work closely with the Operations Director, Clinical Lead, and wider OMT to align marketing activity with organisational strategy, new service launches, and pathway development.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Planning

  • Develop and deliver an annual marketing strategy aligned to Skylight's growth objectives and service development pipeline.
  • Lead marketing planning for the launch of new clinical pathways, services, and business development initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand Skylight's reach across new referral markets, including universities, employers, schools, GP practices, and third sector organisations.
  • Conduct regular market analysis to inform positioning, messaging, and campaign direction.
  • Set, monitor, and report on marketing KPIs (referral conversion, campaign performance, website traffic, etc), presenting performance data at OMT and board level as required.
  • Manage the marketing budget, monitoring spend, value for money and return on investment across campaigns and supplier activity.

Service & Pathway Marketing

  • Develop and maintain marketing materials for all current Skylight services, including ADHD and Autism assessment pathways across NHS Right to Choose and private channels.
  • Work with the Patient Experience and Client Relations Lead to oversee patient-facing communications to ensure messaging is clear, accurate, and consistent with clinical and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the Clinical Lead and Operations Director to market new and emerging services as they are developed.
  • Ensure all marketing materials and communications comply with CQC, ASA, relevant NHS communications guidelines, GDPR, confidentiality requirements, and appropriate use of patient stories, testimonials and case studies.
  • Ensure communications are appropriate, sensitive and accessible for patients, families and potentially vulnerable audiences.
  • Work with clinical colleagues to ensure all service claims and campaign messages are accurate, evidence-based and not misleading.

Stakeholder & Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with referral partners including universities, employers, occupational health providers, schools, and GP networks.
  • Develop a B2B marketing offer for workplace neurodiversity and education sector partnerships.
  • Represent Skylight at relevant events, conferences, and engagement opportunities to raise organisational profile.
  • Support the development of formal partnership and referral agreements in collaboration with the Operations Director and Contracts Manager.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Line manage junior roles within the marketing team, providing supervision, direction, and performance oversight.
  • Coordinate and allocate marketing workload across the team, ensuring priorities are managed effectively.
  • Commission and manage external suppliers, designers, or agencies where required.

Communications & Brand

  • Oversee Skylight's brand identity across all channels and materials, ensuring consistency and professionalism.
  • Manage external communications including press activity, stakeholder newsletters, and organisational announcements.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Assistant to ensure digital and social media content reflects the organisation's values and strategic priorities
  • Support reputational risk management, including communications relating to complaints, service issues, media enquiries or sensitive organisational updates.
  • Ensure patient-facing, website and digital content is accessible, inclusive and user-friendly, particularly for neurodivergent audiences and their families.
  • Support employer brand and recruitment marketing activity to attract high-quality clinical, operational and support staff.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Degree-level qualification in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and contributing to organisational strategy at senior management or operational leadership level.
  • Demonstrable experience in a senior marketing role, including strategic planning.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
  • Experience managing and developing junior staff.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, CMS platforms, and analytics.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Desirable

  • CIM qualification or equivalent professional marketing accreditation.
  • Experience of marketing within healthcare, NHS, or regulated services.
  • Experience developing B2B or referral-based marketing propositions.
  • Understanding of CQC, ASA, and healthcare communications compliance.
  • Understanding of NHS-facing communications.

Flexible Working options

  • The company is on a mainly remote basis with occasional travel to our head office. However, the office is available for more regular days.
  • There is an ability to vary start and finish times (e. g. between 8am and 6pm) while maintaining core hours.
  • Option to work compressed hours (full weekly hours over four days)
  • Adjusted hours for appointments/caring responsibilities with prior arrangement.
