Skylight Psychiatry Ltd is a forward-thinking, dynamic mental health service. We are a CQC-registered service delivering person-centred assessment, care and support, with the ultimate aim of improving the lives of people with neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.
We are seeking experienced clinicians to join our team as ADHD Clinical Assessors, working on a self-employed, ad-hoc basis, to support our Children & Young People ADHD assessment service. The role involves undertaking clinical ADHD assessments and reaching diagnostic conclusions, in line with NICE guidance and Skylight Psychiatry governance arrangements. Assessments are delivered primarily virtually, with face-to-face appointments offered where clinically indicated or requested, including at our Basingstoke clinic.
Responsibilities
- Undertake clinical ADHD assessments for children and young people in line with NICE guidance and service protocols
- Gather, review and integrate information from multiple sources
- Formulate and record diagnostic conclusions within the ADHD assessment pathway
- Communicate assessment outcomes clearly and sensitively to children, young people and their families
- Prepare and submit high-quality diagnostic reports within agreed timeframes
- Contribute to MDT discussions where required to support care planning and onward recommendations
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records
- Work in line with all Skylight Psychiatry policies, procedures and core values
- Join Slack, the platform used by the team to communicate service updates and key information
- Remain up to date with current research and best practice in ADHD assessment
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Professional qualification appropriate to undertaking ADHD diagnostic assessments (for example: Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Clinical Psychology, Nursing or equivalent)
- Registration with a relevant professional body, with no restrictions on practice
- Demonstrable experience conducting ADHD diagnostic assessments with children and young people
- Strong understanding of child development and neurodevelopmental presentations
- Experience applying diagnostic criteria and clinical judgement within structured assessment pathways
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- In-date training in line with CSTF requirements
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when working with families
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider service framework
- Confidence in conducting assessments virtually
Remuneration and Practical Arrangements
- Competitive fee per completed ADHD assessment (inclusive of assessment appointment(s), report writing and MDT contribution where required)
- This role is offered on a self-employed basis; the postholder is responsible for their own tax and national insurance arrangements
- Assessments are delivered primarily virtually, with face-to-face assessments agreed in advance where required
- Clinic room bookings for in-person appointments will be managed by our administrative team
- Training on our patient record system will be provided
- Invoicing is expected monthly
- Travel and related expenses cannot be reimbursed
