We\’re looking for a driven Materials Controller to support aircraft maintenance operations by managing procurement and logistics of parts, materials, and equipment. This important position ensures the Maintenance Control Centre runs efficiently and that maintenance teams have everything they need—precisely when they need it.
Responsibilities
Handle procurement and documentation for aircraft and non-aircraft materials, goods, and services, ensuring full compliance with laws and regulations.
Respond promptly and efficiently to Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) situations.
Negotiate with vendors for best value and monitor/expedite purchase orders.
Assist in developing service contracts and maintenance support programs.
Participate in defining needs, specifications, and vendor selections.
Manage tasks via ERP systems and liaise with repair stations and vendors.
Contribute to continuous improvement within Purchasing and across the organisation.
Collaborate with maintenance planning teams to refine demand forecasts.
Coordinate specifications and needs with internal requestors.
Report vendor performance issues related to cost, quality, or delivery to management.
Partner with other departments on inventory levels, one-off purchases, and stock management.
Manage global inbound and outbound shipments with freight forwarders and couriers.
Oversee customs regimes and compliance, including documentation and shipping cost negotiations.
Process return shipments of customer-owned property.
Provide exceptional service and relationship management to internal and external stakeholders.
Attend customer/supplier meetings and support business travel when needed.
Develop and nurture supplier and customer relationships.
Assist with order expediting to meet delivery and service level objectives.
Support leadership with administrative or project-based tasks as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Procurement experience—preferably in aerospace or aviation.
Familiar with transactional scopes including loans, exchanges, cost estimating, and parts process management.
Experience with AMOS or similar Maintenance Management Systems is advantageous.
Aerospace qualifications or familiarity with diverse currencies and conversions are a plus.
Strong negotiator—highly motivated, flexible, outgoing, and results-driven.
Excellent communication skills—capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and succinctly.
Relationship-focused, with a track record of building effective partnerships to achieve objectives.
Comfortable meeting deadlines and using metrics to assess performance.
High standards of work quality and an understanding of human factors in operational contexts.
Interpersonal skills to maintain strong interdepartmental relationships.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as FAA, TCCA, EASA Part-145, PGS-15, ADR, and IATA categories 7/8.
Working Time & Logistics
Based at head office in Hampton Wick, with flexibility for hybrid working and occasional travel across the UK.
May include shift-based work periods to align with maintenance operations.
