Healthcare assistants with mental care experience are required for a 12-hour shift, 8am-8pm. We are only able to accept applicants who have the right to work in the UK and live within a commutable distance to the location of the job role and are able to work full-time, 33-44 hours per week. The nursing home is located in Bradford and offers a range of specialist care for residents, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s care, as well as care for stroke victims. Successful applicants will have 1-2 years of experience, preferably in a similar role.

Salary: £12.82 per hour. No sponsorship provided!

This position is crucial in the healthcare system, as Mental Health Care Assistants play a vital role in helping individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Provide personal care and support to patients, including assistance with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing.
  • Therapeutic Engagement: Engage with patients in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and alleviate distress, including identifying factors that may increase agitation and employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and document patients' conditions, including any changes in behaviour or mood, and report these to the nursing staff.
  • Supportive Environment: Create a safe and compassionate environment for patients, ensuring their dignity and privacy are respected at all times.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychiatrists, and social workers, to implement care plans and support patients effectively.
  • Crisis Intervention: Recognise signs of distress or crisis in patients and respond appropriately to ensure their safety and well-being.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a care role, experience with dementia, schizophrenia, brain injury, and nursing home is desirable.
  • Certifications: Holding a Care Certificate or equivalent is typically desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A cheerful, compassionate, respectful, and caring approach is required, along with a good understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and the desire to make a positive contribution to the lives of others. Ability to work on own initiative.
