Registered General Nurse 36 hours per week – Day or Night 12‑hour shifts – Pay: £21 per hour – Location: Halifax and Gildersome – Nursing home. No sponsorship provided.

About the Role

The role involves being the named nurse for each patient, delivering person‑centred care through assessment, planning, and delivery of nursing care. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and maintain a safe, supportive environment for residents and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan and deliver nursing care in partnership with the patient and their carer/family.
  • Observe and engage with patients to assess needs and evaluate progress.
  • Monitor and review nursing care plans.
  • Respond to changes in patient condition and needs promptly.
  • Handle suggestions and complaints from patients and families effectively.
  • Contribute to team-based patient care with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in regular clinical and non‑clinical meetings.
  • Prioritise duties and delegate within the shift coordination framework, acting as nurse in charge when required.
  • Maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues and visitors, responding courteously to requests and enquiries.
  • Promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting patient, relative and carer needs.
  • Engage in monthly clinical supervision and reflective practice.
  • Work in accordance with safeguarding adult and children policies and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act, the Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Plan, implement and supervise provision of quality care.
  • Maintain required medical documentation.
  • Uphold residents’ rights to privacy, dignity and choice.
  • Report ill health among residents and request professional visits when necessary.
  • Adhere to company policy, procedure, Care Inspectorate guidelines, and the Nursing and Midwifery Council code of conduct.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse with current PIN number with the NMC.
  • UK active PIN and at least 1 year of experience in the UK.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Calm, composed, and able to manage challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to supervise other staff competently.
  • Knowledge of assessment, admission and discharge processes.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and commitment to working within their codes of practice.
  • A genuine desire to work with the elderly.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
