Registered General Nurse for our 41-bed Nursing Home
About the home: A large care home (with nursing facilities) in Hove, BN3 housing a maximum of 41 individuals, houses younger and elderly adults including people with mental health conditions and also accepts individuals with dementia and physical disabilities.

Our qualified nursing team are available 24 hours a day to provide medical and other forms of specialised support. Respecting older people and recognising each resident as a unique individual, our nurses provide not just high-quality nursing skills, but truly person-centred care.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patient's named nurse.
- Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress.
- Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.
- Evaluate and respond to changes in patient condition and needs.
- Deal proactively and effectively with suggestions and complaints from patients and their families / carers.
- Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team.
- Participate in regular clinical and non-clinical meetings and attend other meetings as requested.
- Prioritise nursing duties and delegate appropriately and effectively within the shift co-ordination Framework, working as nurse in charge as required, ensuring as far as reasonable practicable a safe environment.
- Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests, enquiries and suggestions.
- Help to promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient / relatives and carers.
- Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice at least monthly.
- Work in accordance with safeguarding adult and children policies and requirements.
- Ensure the requirements of the Mental Health, Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Standards are met.
- Plan, implement, and supervise the provision of quality care.
- Maintain the required medical documentation.
- Uphold residents' rights to privacy, dignity and choice.
- Report any ill health among the residents and request professional visits when necessary.
- Familiarise yourself with, and strictly adhere to, company policy and procedure and Care Inspectorate guidelines.
- Abide by the Nursing and Midwifery Council's (NMC'S) code of professional conduct.
Requirements
- Must be a registered nurse (current PIN number with NMC).
- Genuine desire to work with the elderly.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, along with excellent listening skills.
- Ability to supervise other staff members comfortably and competently.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Calm nature capable of dealing with, and defusing, challenging situations.
- Knowledgeable about assessment, admission and discharge processes.
- Knowledgeable of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and committed to working within its Codes of Practice.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- UK active PIN, with at least 1 year of experience in the UK.
