Overview

The Home is located less than a mile from the centre of Middlesbrough. The home is convenient for main road links (A66 and A19) and is well served by an efficient bus route. Our qualified nursing team are available 24 hours a day to provide medical and other forms of specialized support. Respecting older people and recognizing each resident as a unique individual, our nurses provide not just high-quality nursing skills, but truly person-centred care. Due to the location, it is desirable to be a driver and have own transportation.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time, hours: 33-per week

Salary: £12.71 per hour for Healthcare assistants, £13.75 per hour for Senior HCA with NVQ3

Please note we are not able to provide sponsorship; we need only care assistants able to work full-time.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting and assisting Residents with all aspects of daily living
  • Assist Residents in all aspects of their care needs, including physical, emotional and spiritual support
  • Provide supervision and attention when needed, ensuring Residents retain their comfort and dignity
  • Observe care planning needs for Residents and complete daily records as instructed
  • Assist in the framework of social activities by interacting with Residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Centre
  • Answer Nurse Call system and provide assistance as required
  • Answer the door and telephone appropriately
  • Respond promptly and pass on messages
  • Report on the well-being of Residents
  • Clean and maintain equipment used by Residents and Relatives (e.g., wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles)

Requirements for the role:

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Previous experience of working with the relevant Service User group as Senior Healthcare Assistant for at least 6 months
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care and medication training for a Senior role are mandatory
  • Team player
  • Driving license and own car is desirable
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
  • Live in the area and able to commute easily

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in CARE as a Senior Healthcare Assistant is mandatory
  • Ability to drive is advantageous
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes
  • Strong leadership skills to supervise and guide care activities
  • Understanding of care plans and their implementation
  • Passion for providing quality care in a residential setting
  • Care Certificate is desirable
