Senior Healthcare Assistant with NVQ3 and medication training desirable. Nursing homes based in East Birmingham, B28 and B9 area.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour.

Our Senior Care Assistants must hold a minimum of NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, care plan experience, risk assessment and audit. We need only full‐time SHCA and do not provide sponsorship.

About the Home: The care home offers dementia, nursing and respite care in Birmingham.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the running of the overall care team and work with others across the shift to ensure continuity of services to our residents.
  • Create a welcoming, supportive and stimulating environment and build relationships with both residents and their families.
  • Deliver a high quality of care and provide support and guidance to the care team, leading by example.
  • Review and update care plans ensuring they meet residents' needs and wishes.
  • Plan and review staff rotas to ensure care support is available at all times.
  • Promote high standards of care by ensuring exceptional care duties are delivered and all staff are supervised appropriately.
  • Ensure all areas across the Care Home are kept clean, tidy and pleasant for all residents and family members.
  • Communicate professionally and warmly with visitors, family members and other health care professionals.
  • Promote the Home in a professional manner and raise awareness of the Home within the local community.

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications Required:

  • Genuine interest in working with the relevant Service Users group.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Confident team player.
  • Satisfactory Policy Check and check against the ISA list.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Willingness to participate in vocational training programme.
  • Previous experience of working with the relevant Service User group.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Care and medication training.
  • Experience and Qualification in the Safe Handling of Medicines.

Main Duties:

  • Enable people to remain as independent as possible whilst providing support and assistance as per the individual's needs.
  • Deliver personal care including washing, dressing, and oral care.
  • Encourage and support individuals to participate in leisure activities as appropriate to their preferences.
  • Support individuals and groups to outside appointments and leisure outings.
  • Make and change beds, tidy rooms, undertake light cleaning duties as needed.
  • Serve meals and drinks at mealtimes, presenting them attractively with polite service.
  • Comply with all statutory and legal requirements relevant to the role such as Health & Safety, COSHH, and Infection Prevention and Control policies.
