Working as a Senior Care Assistant/Nursing assistant, you will support the running of the overall care team and work with others across the shift to ensure continuity of services to our residents. You will create a welcoming, supportive and stimulating environment and build relationships with both residents and their families. As a Senior Care Assistant/Nursing assistant, you will be:
- Responsible for delivering a high quality of care and providing support and guidance to the care team and leading by example.
- Reviewing and updating care plans ensuring they meet residents' needs and wishes.
- Planning and reviewing staff rotas to ensure care support is available at all times.
- Promoting high standards of care by ensuring you deliver exceptional care duties and all staff are supervised appropriately and shifts run smoothly and efficiently.
- Ensuring all areas across the Care Home are kept clean, tidy and pleasant for all residents and family members.
- Communicating professionally and warmly with visitors, family members and other health care professionals.
- Promoting the Home in a professional manner and raising awareness of the Home within the local community.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications Required:
- Genuine interest in working with the relevant Service Users group.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Confident team player.
- Satisfactory Policy Check, and check against the ISA list.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programme.
- Previous experience of working with the relevant Service User group.
- NVQ Level 3 in Care and medication training.

- Experience / Qualification in the Safe Handling of Medicines.
Main Duties:
- To enable people to remain as independent as possible whilst providing support and assistance as per the individual's needs. This will include delivering personal care including washing, dressing, and oral care.
- Be understanding and patient towards everyone and their needs, encourage and support them to participate in leisure activities as appropriate to the individual and their preferences, ensuring their social and emotional needs are met. This also includes supporting individuals and groups to outside appointments and leisure outings.
- Responsible for making and changing beds, tidying rooms, undertaking light cleaning duties as needed and generally assisting in ensuring that the home is kept clean, pleasant and welcoming at all times.
- Helping to serve meals and drinks at mealtimes and other times, taking care to present meals and refreshments in an attractive way, with polite and courteous service. In addition, providing the appropriate level of support at mealtimes.
- To understand and comply with all statutory and legal requirements which are relevant to the role such as Health & Safety, COSHH, all aspects of the Care Standards Act, and have a clear understanding of Infection Prevention and Control policies, procedures and measures to maintain a safe environment throughout the home.
