Registered General Nurse and Registered Mental Nurse for our Nursing Home, an 80-bed facility.

Available Hours: 36 hours per week

Paid breaks

Day shifts, 12-hour shift

Pay rate: £22 per hour

Location: Bradford area, BD3

Ideally located, just minutes from Bradford city centre, the Care Home provides residential care and nursing care for frail and elderly members of the community, as well as those suffering from dementia and dementia type illnesses. The purpose-built home offers 80 en-suite rooms. Our qualified nursing team are available 24 hours a day to provide medical and other forms of specialised support. Respecting older people and recognising each resident as a unique individual, our nurses provide not just high-quality nursing skills, but truly person-centred care.

About the Role Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patients named nurse.
  • Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress.
  • Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.
  • Evaluate and respond to changes in patient condition and needs.
  • Deal proactively and effectively with suggestions and complaints from patients and their families/carers.
  • Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team.
  • Participate in regular clinical and non-clinical meetings and attend other meetings as requested.
  • Prioritise nursing duties and delegate appropriately and effectively within the shift co-ordination Framework, working as nurse in charge as required, ensuring as far as reasonable practicable a safe environment.
  • Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests, enquiries and suggestions.
  • Help to promote and to maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient/relatives and carers.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice at least Monthly.
  • Work in accordance with safeguarding adult and children policies and requirements.
  • Ensure the requirements of the Mental Health, Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Standards are met.
  • Planning, implementing, and supervising the provision of quality care.
  • Maintaining the required medical documentation.
  • Upholding residents rights to privacy, dignity and choice.
  • Reporting any ill health among the residents and request professional visits when necessary.
  • Familiarising yourself with, and strictly adhering to, company policy and procedure and Care Inspectorate guidelines.
  • Abiding by the Nursing and Midwifery Councils (NMCS) code of professional conduct.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered nurse (current PIN number with NMC)
  • A genuine desire to work with the elderly.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, along with excellent listening skills.
  • The ability to supervise other staff members comfortably and competently.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Someone with a calm nature who can deal with, and defuse, challenging situations.
  • Knowledgeable about assessment, admission and discharge processes.
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and committed to working within its Codes of Practice.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
