Salary: £35,000.00-£42,000.00 per year

Location: Predominantly, the location of work will be our HQ in Southampton. You will also be required to work at other locations around the UK on an ad-hoc basis, as well as outside the United Kingdom as needed. Applicants should live within a commutable distance from our premises (ideally within 1 hour).

Role Summary:

SkyBound Rescuer Coordinators are at the forefront of our operations, acting as our Beyond Visual Line of Sight Remote Pilots, utilising cutting edge technology, from our state of the art facilities to remotely pilot our Uncrewed Aircraft, operating flights across the United Kingdom and beyond in support of our clients requirements.

Additionally to the Coordinators core role, you shall support our testing and development regime, through VLOS operations locally in Southampton, with occasional requirements to travel both nationally and internationally to conduct trials and demonstration activities. Trials and testing activities are a critical role to ensure that we remain at the forefront of technological developments within our sector.

Main responsibilities of job:

  • BVLOS Flight Operations
  • Operating as a Remote Pilot responsible for the safe operation of our Uncrewed Aircraft across the United Kingdom, and internationally, from our Remote Control Centre in Southampton
  • Flight Planning
  • Following our safe procedures to ensure that each operation is correctly planned, to ensure adherence to CAA compliant procedures.
  • Risk Mitigation and Management
  • Ensuring that any risks identified throughout planning and risk assessment methodologies are mitigated and managed to ensure safe operations are undertaken.
  • Working with our clients during live operations and during post flight procedures to fully achieve their requirements, including data capture and the management of dynamic incidents (including response to emergency incidents).
  • Software & Hardware testing, development & trials
  • Supporting our in-house team of software & hardware innovators to ensure safe testing and development of our systems. This involves deploying your Remote Piloting skills to operate in VLOS and BVLOS capacities exploring new use-cases, and providing flight services to clients that may fall outside of our usual day-to-day operations.
  • Report writing & data capture
  • Completing accurate reports following the completion of flight operations, in compliance with established procedures, to ensure the accurate transfer of data and information to clients
  • Ensuring information, in particular that related to our Flight Operations, are accurately detailed and recorded, complying with regulatory requirements
  • Technical maintenance
  • Conducting basic maintenance and repair on our systems to minimise downtime
  • Dynamic Assistance
  • Providing assistance to team members across SkyBound Rescuer, fostering our team ethics, where required by business need

  • A full UK Driving license is required to ensure that you are able to support trials and testing activities across the UK
  • Ability to travel
  • Applicants are required to have the ability to travel within the UK and internationally occasionally. Periods of travel can exceed 1 month, however suitable notice periods of deployments will be provided.

Competencies & Experience (Desirable):

  • At SkyBound Rescuer, we prioritise recruiting the right candidate who meets our required criteria. We will provide industry leading training to ensure that our Coordinators are competent and safe to complete the role, and as such, previous Remote Pilot experience is not required. Previous experience operating as a Remote Pilot, particularly with BVLOS operations experience, is however desirable.
  • Previous Radio Communications/Control Experience
  • Experience in radio communications procedures or experience working within a control room environment
  • Aerial data capture and processing
  • Experience in conducting aerial inspection, in a crewed (payload operator such as Police Tactical Flight Officer) or uncrewed setting (as a Mission Commander, Remote Pilot or a Payload Operator) is desirable. A demonstrated ability to subsequently process captured GIS, visual engineering inspection and thermal imagery data, would be of additional value to support our critical national infrastructure activities.
  • Product Development
  • Experience of developing software or uncrewed systems hardware is desirable, enabling you to help and guide the development teams with their testing and development regimes
  • Security Experience
  • Experience in delivery of security services to clients, including from a remote operations centre using automated or manually controlled systems such as CCTV cameras.
