Our client Sizewell is looking for a Coded Welder - Craft Worker 1, who will be performing high quality welding and fabrication work in accordance with engineering drawings, safety standards, and operational targets. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the capability to work independently or as part of a team.
Duties:
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols
- Setting up and operating welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.)
- Preparing materials through cutting, grinding, and fitting
- Executing welds to meet engineering, safety, and quality standards
- Inspecting finished products for defects (visual inspection, measurements, NDT if applicable)
- Collaborating with fabricators, engineers, and supervisors
Skills:
- Proficiency in one or more welding processes: MIG / MAG and TIG, Manual Metal Arc (Stick), Flux cored, Spot welding.
- Ability to work with various materials: Mild steel, Stainless steel, Aluminium
- Knowledge of Fabrication techniques: Thermal cutting (oxy fuel, plasma), Weld distortion control, Measuring and marking out
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a welder in various settings
- City & Guilds 3268 / 3269 (UK), NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Welding/Fabrication, AWS Certified Welder
- CSCS/CPCS card (for construction sites)
- Desirable: Additional certifications (e.g., coded welder qualifications: EN ISO 9606, ASME IX)
- Forklift, overhead crane, or manual handling training.
