And we do it all right here at Sky.The SRE team, is responsible for the implementation and administration of the infrastructure for the Video On Demand (VOD) content. The infrastructure consists of many technology stacks, i.e., AWS, GCP, Cassandra, Kafka, etc. which provides a great opportunity to learn and develop code to implement and administrate the technologiesWhat you\’ll do Be the Lead on multiple delivery projects while work on day-to-day BAU and support tasks. Proactively create and deliver infrastructure as code to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our internal or customer-facing services Lead Troubleshooting and problem solving Create new designs, architectures and standards for new projects or solutions to improve current infrastructure, and contribute to the stability and security of the environment Help with capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning, defining processes and best practices for reliable and timely delivery Communicate work status regularly with a clear articulation of design choices along the way.What you\’ll bring Experience in solving technical issues, managing technical projects, and mentoring engineers Experience working in a multi technical SRE department, with the ability to break down complex problems and find practical solutions Strong interpersonal skills which will allow you to collaborate with stakeholders and communicate effectively with your peers The ambition to excel in a fast-paced, constantly changing digital environment A proven track record of technical and mentoring role Technical Competency in the following areas: Linux System Administration (Ubuntu) Monitoring (Prometheus/Nagios/Icinga). Cloud Platforms – deploying and automation (AWS/GCP) Networking (LB/Routing/Switching) Databases – (SQL/NoSQL). Cassandra knowledge would be great to have Scripting/ System-Programming – (Python/Bash/Go/Java) Configuration management – (Ansible/ Terraform) CI/CD (Jenkins/ Concourse/ gitlab-ci/ github actions) Virtualisation (VMWare) Please note that there is an on-call working rota for this roleTeam overview Global Streaming Technology Our team develops and supports market-leading video streaming services, underpinned by state-of-the-art engineering principles.
