IT Hardware Refresh Technician
On-site 5 days/week in London, UK
Contract (June till October)

The Refresh Technician is responsible for managing and executing the process of upgrading and replacing the firm\’s hardware. The technician ensures optimal deployment of desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals. This role includes deploying new systems, performing upgrades on existing systems and contributing to IT projects as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assessment and Planning: Evaluate the current hardware infrastructure and execute the refresh cycle as determined
· Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and system updates.
· Deployment: Install and configure new hardware, ensuring minimal disruption to the organization\’s operations.
· Data Migration: Ensure that data is securely and efficiently transferred from old hardware to new hardware. ·
Testing and Validation: Test new hardware to ensure it is functioning correctly and meets performance standards
· Documentation: Maintain detailed records of the hardware refresh process, including inventory management and configuration details.
· User Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users on new hardware, addressing any issues or concerns they may have. ·
Assist with advanced system configurations, including imaging and deployment of desktops and laptops. · Participate in IT projects such as system migrations, software deployments, and infrastructure upgrades. · Maintain accurate records of issues and solutions in a ticketing system.
· Manage and maintain IT asset inventories, ensuring proper documentation and lifecycle management.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor\’s degree or equivalent. ·
2-5+ years of experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or a similar role with a focus on hardware troubleshooting
· Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and common software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). · Familiarity with network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, DHCP). ·
Experience with system imaging, deployment, and hardware upgrades.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Ability to follow directions, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ·
Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently and provide guidance to staff members. · Knowledge of IT security principles and experience implementing security measures
