This is a key role which forms part of the HR Investigations team and will report directly into an HR Investigations Manager. The HR Investigations team forms part of the wider Employee Relations (ER) team at Sky who support high level/complex ER cases, delivering consistent and clear advice to line managers on the application of Sky policies and processes to ensure managers are acting in accordance with statutory requirements, within the agreed SLAs and making sure that the approach is congruent with our employer brand and our Values.
As a Senior HR Investigator, you will be responsible for leading our most complex and high-risk cases. Alongside the case work, you'll play a key role in supporting and upskilling the team, acting as a subject matter expert and helping to build capability across the team. You will also drive and lead continuous improvement activity, identifying opportunities to strengthen ways of working, improving consistency and mitigating risk across the investigations function. This role will also offer the opportunity to work with key stakeholders at senior management levels.
What you will do
- Lead and manage the most complex and high profile investigations from start to finish, including cases that may have previously been investigated by an HR Investigator, acting as a point of escalation for key stakeholders.
- Effectively and sensitively, interact and communicate with individuals involved in a case, whilst producing objective findings, practical recommendations and high quality outcomes and reports.
- Provide constructive and impactful feedback to colleagues within the HRI team to foster growth, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
- Deputise for HRI Manager as/when required ie attending senior stakeholder meetings.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for all HRI activity, whilst coaching, training and developing the wider team.
What you will bring
- Proven experience leading complex employee relations investigations, with strong working knowledge of employment law (including the Equality Act 2010 and ACAS Code of Practice), and the ability to deliver high-quality investigation reports and outcome letters efficiently.
- Experience supporting, coaching and developing junior colleagues on investigative approach, sharing expertise and best practice while providing clear, risk-based advice and guidance.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills with a proven ability to prioritise, multitask, navigate ambiguity, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to build effective working relationships in challenging situations, using clear, confident communication and sound judgement.
- Demonstrate the ability to proactively identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen HR investigations practice and outcomes.
