The role involves working at Skuu, a contract manufacturer and formulation house in the UK beauty industry. We focus on skincare, haircare, and body products, challenging conventional methods and asking why things are done a certain way.
We need a junior formulation chemist who prefers hands-on work over desk duties. You will collaborate with our NPD lead to develop new formulations from scratch across our product range. Your responsibilities will include:
- Bench formulation across skincare, haircare, and body categories
- Developing new products from concept to stable, manufacturable formula for various customer brands and Skuu’s own brands
- Running and interpreting lab trials, iterating quickly, and documenting clearly
- Challenging existing approaches
- Collaborating closely with our NPD lead and wider technical team
We are looking for someone with an SCS Diploma or a relevant degree (chemistry, cosmetic science, or similar). However, character is more important than credentials. We want someone who:
- Is genuinely excited about formulation as a craft
- Learns quickly and is honest about their knowledge gaps
- Has the ambition to grow into a senior role
- Is proactive and ready to do the work
- Can take feedback and improve
If you have personal projects or independent experimentation that demonstrate your passion, please share them with us.
What we offer includes:
- Direct mentorship from an experienced NPD lead in a hands-on environment
- Genuine opportunities for rapid growth
- Work that matters: your formulations will go to market
- A culture that rewards initiative
- A 4-day working week (10-hour days) at our HQ in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire
To apply, send your CV and a short note (not a cover letter) detailing what you’ve made, what it taught you, and what you want to improve. Generic applications will not be considered. Show us who you are.
