As a Product Manager focused on chargebacks, you will personally drive the strategy, requirements, and optimization of our chargeback and dispute resolution capabilities. You will serve as the functional expert for chargebacks—shaping roadmap priorities, analysing trends, partnering across internal teams, and delivering solutions that reduce losses, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience. This role is ideal for a hands‑on product manager who thrives in complex payments environments and enjoys deep ownership without people‑management responsibilities. This role is based in our London office and follows a hybrid schedule requiring three days onsite each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Develop and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for chargeback and dispute management solutions. Conduct market research, analyse scheme rule changes, and monitor regulatory developments to inform product direction. Build business cases and propose new initiatives that drive revenue, reduce losses, and increase operational efficiency. Identify growth and monetization opportunities within the chargebacks portfolio using a highly entrepreneurial approach.
  • Product Execution & Delivery: Translate business needs into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritised backlogs. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Architecture, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to deliver enhancements. Contribute to process automation and AI‑driven solutions that improve dispute resolution, representments, and fraud mitigation. Coordinate cross‑functional readiness and support go‑to‑market activities for chargeback‑related releases.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary subject matter expert for chargebacks, representing customer and merchant needs across the organization. Engage with internal teams (Sales, Merchant Services, Account Management, Customer Support) to gather insights and validate requirements. Support merchant discussions and internal enablement by explaining chargeback processes, rules, and product capabilities. Provide training and knowledge‑sharing to internal partners on best practices and product functionality.
  • Performance & Optimization: Monitor KPIs such as chargeback win rates, dispute cycle time, fraud mitigation effectiveness, and operational throughput. Use data and analytics tools (e.g., SQL) to identify trends, root causes, and optimisation opportunities. Analyze financial impacts, including revenue uplift and cost savings, in partnership with Finance. Conduct post‑launch reviews to assess feature performance and recommend future improvements.
  • Compliance, Risk & Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all product changes adhere to relevant scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, NACHA), regulatory frameworks, and internal policies. Partner with Risk, Legal, and Compliance to address rule changes, liability considerations, and emerging fraud patterns. Support alignment with issuing/acquiring chargeback responsibilities and BIN sponsorship models.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of product management experience in payments, fraud, risk, or chargeback management, required.
  • Deep understanding of chargeback and dispute resolution processes across major schemes.
  • Experience engaging with acquirers, processors, merchants, or networks.
  • Familiarity with chargeback automation technologies, AI‑driven fraud solutions, and dispute analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using SQL or similar tools to drive insights.
  • Experience writing user stories and working with Agile development teams.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong personal ownership and accountability.
  • Bachelor’s or Educational degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field, required; or additional experience in lieu of education, required.
  • A hands‑on, data‑driven approach with a focus on execution and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to simplify complex regulatory and operational processes for diverse audiences.
  • Strong ownership mentality and comfort operating independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Curiosity, collaboration, and a passion for building scalable, intuitive dispute management solutions.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in prepaid, card issuing, or acquiring.
  • Knowledge of EMV 3DS, PSD2, and global regulatory frameworks affecting chargebacks.
  • Understanding of BIN sponsorship models and related liability shifts.
