Full-time | Central Bath | Office-based, with hybrid working possible after probation
The opportunity
Margot Web is looking for its first employee: a hungry, confident and commercially driven Sales Executive who wants to build a career in sales and be rewarded for performing. We are a growing technology company providing managed websites to businesses in highly regulated markets, starting with financial advisers and mortgage brokers. We generate the leads. We qualify and nurture them. Your job is to turn those opportunities into customers.
This could suit someone already working in sales, but previous sales experience is not essential. We are much more interested in your drive, confidence, resilience and ability to learn. If you want a comfortable job where you can simply work through a task list, this probably isn't it. If you like targets, enjoy talking to people, want responsibility and are motivated by the idea of earning more when you perform better, we’d like to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
Your working life will revolve around the sales pipeline. Qualified leads will be generated through our marketing activity and passed to you through the CRM. From that point, you’ll own the opportunity.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Contacting new leads quickly and confidently by phone, email and other appropriate channels
- Creating conversations with prospective customers and understanding their businesses
- Identifying the problems with their existing website or current approach
- Explaining the Margot Web proposition simply and persuasively
- Following up consistently and professionally
- Progressing opportunities through each stage of the CRM
- Handling questions and objections
- Asking for the business and closing sales
- Ensuring we have everything required from the customer before handing the project to our technical team
- Following up shortly after the sale to make sure the customer is happy
- Maintaining accurate, organised and up-to-date CRM records
- Managing a busy pipeline and prioritising your time effectively
- Working towards clear activity, conversion and sales targets
Some prospects will already be familiar with Margot Web. Others may need you to initiate the first proper conversation. Either way, you need to be someone who is completely comfortable picking up the phone.
What we’re looking for
Above everything else, we’re looking for hunger. You should want to succeed, want to sell and want to increase your earnings through commission. The right person is likely to be:
- Ambitious and strongly motivated by results
- Confident speaking to new people
- Comfortable on the phone
- Articulate and able to communicate clearly
- Resilient when a prospect says no or doesn’t respond
- Persistent without becoming pushy
- Highly organised
- Disciplined about following up
- Commercially minded
- A self-starter who takes ownership of their pipeline
- Curious and a good listener
- Comfortable asking directly for the business
- Coachable and willing to learn
- Able to work at pace
- Motivated by targets, numbers, conversion rates and commission
You do not need a degree. You do not need years of sales experience. Previous sales experience will certainly be considered, but we’re equally interested in someone at the beginning of their career who has the underlying personality and drive to become very good at sales. We can teach you our product, our market and our sales process. We can’t teach you to want it.
Your first few weeks
You’ll start with intensive training in Margot Web, our customers and the markets we serve. We’ll give you the product knowledge and tools you need to have credible conversations with prospective customers, and you’ll begin making calls as your knowledge develops. After that, the focus moves quickly towards managing and converting a busy pipeline of opportunities. You’ll be supported, coached and given feedback, but we’ll also expect you to take ownership of your results.
About Margot Web
Margot Web provides simple, professionally managed websites for businesses that don’t want the hassle of managing a website themselves. We’re initially focused on financial advisers and mortgage brokers, with plans to take the same model into other highly regulated professional markets. Our customers need professional websites, but dealing with website companies, hosting, updates, compliance and changing content can be a distraction from running their businesses. Margot exists to make that problem go away. We keep the proposition straightforward, communicate in plain English and make the service easy for customers to understand and buy.
Why join now?
You’ll be employee number one. You’ll work directly with the founder and have a level of exposure, responsibility and influence that would be difficult to get in a large sales organisation. You’ll see how the business develops from close range and have the opportunity to help shape the sales process as we grow. If Margot grows as we intend it to, we want the people who help us build the company early to have the opportunity to grow with it.
Salary and working arrangements
Basic salary: £26,000 per annum
Commission: Uncapped
OTE: £40,000
This is a full-time role based in our central Bath office. We work standard UK office hours, with some flexibility where appropriate. Hybrid working may be available after successful completion of your probation period.
If you’re ambitious, confident, commercially minded and serious about building a career in sales, we’d like to hear from you.
