A hands-on operational leadership role responsible for delivering efficient, high-quality service to both external and internal customers. The Operations Manager actively works alongside the team on the warehouse floor, supporting daily tasks while motivating and driving continuous improvement. The role champions Health & Safety, upholds BRCG standards, and oversees site operations, vehicles, and the performance of the Operations team. This is an all-encompassing role that involves the management of the site, vehicles and the operations team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Culture
    • Lead by example through a visible, hands-on presence across the site.
    • Embed a strong Can Do attitude throughout the department.
    • Work directly with Warehouse Operatives, Drivers, and the Operations Administrator to support daily operations.
    • Conduct daily team meetings and maintain clear communication.
  • Warehouse & Goods-In Operations
    • Actively support and oversee picking, packing and order collation.
    • Work alongside the Goods-In team to maintain efficient processes.
    • Carry out stock checks, verify stock locations and ensure correct date code rotation.
    • Maintain high standards of organisation, cleanliness and safety across all operational areas.
    • Operate forklift trucks (Counterbalance/Reach) for loading, unloading and pallet movement.
  • Transport & Logistics
    • Manage drivers and vehicles while also assisting with practical tasks when required.
    • Load delivery vehicles when necessary, ensuring correct paperwork and quantities.
    • Optimise vehicle planning to deliver efficient customer solutions.
    • Oversee 3rd-party hauliers and monitor performance and value for money.
  • Quality, Compliance & Safety
    • Maintain a hands-on approach to Health & Safety, ensuring procedures are followed across the site.
    • Ensure full compliance with BRCG standards to maintain an AA grade.
    • Support internal and external audits, working closely with the technical department.
    • Ensure all products dispatched meet required quality and presentation standards.
  • Systems & Administration
    • Champion the daily use of the Intact system and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
    • Complete all paperwork accurately, promptly and professionally.
    • Monitor and drive team performance through KPIs.
  • General Duties
    • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
    • Follow all company Health & Safety guidelines.
    • Conduct pre-use checks on machinery.
    • Inspect final products to ensure compliance with legal standards and customer expectations.
  • Undertake Any Additional Duties Reasonably Required By The Company.
