About Our Client

This young adult is a full-time wheelchair user and relies on the assistance of dedicated caregivers to maintain their independence and well-being. Your responsibilities will encompass every aspect of daily life to ensure their comfort and quality of life.

As written by them: Hi, I'm a third-year student at UCA Farnham, studying Fine Art. I'm a full-time wheelchair user living in a semi-accessible flat on campus. I'm passionate about art and hope you are someone who could share this passion and knowledge with me. I would like someone with no preconceived expectation of the several complex disabilities that can affect me in different ways. I have both neurological and physical disabilities, including Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a Chiari malformation, which can cause a range of symptoms. Please be aware that I can be prone to seizures and fainting but nothing regularly. I would want someone who is proactive in keeping things clean and tidy, organising medication and laundry, and helping me with tasks that I need assistance with. I might also require some help overnight if I have trouble regulating my temperature or need assistance to use the bathroom. Sometimes prompting me or asking more than once if I need something or assistance can help. I often struggle asking for help or voicing my needs.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • A full and clean UK driving license (Desirable but not essential)
  • Open-minded on topics such as politics, religion and relationships
  • Excellent sense of humour and ability to not take life too seriously
  • Physical fitness, patience, and a caring nature
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Mature and responsible attitude
  • Fluent in English
  • Clean and tidy appearance

Application Process

To apply, please submit a cover letter describing your interests and explaining why you would be a suitable candidate for this unique and rewarding position.

Full training in the client's particular needs will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for individuals without previous care experience. You will also have on-call support from our client coordinator team.
