SKM Impact Solutions is recruiting for a

Technical Officer

to join a well established and growing organisation operating across the housing and built environment sectors. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in

social housing, affordable housing, property maintenance, asset management or construction

who wants to broaden their technical and commercial experience. You'll work closely with the Senior Technical Manager and support projects across areas including

planned investment, property maintenance, building safety, compliance, Decent Homes, decarbonisation and renewable technologies

. The Role

You'll be involved in:

β€’ Reviewing and developing technical specifications

β€’ Supporting housing asset management and procurement projects

β€’ Collating property data, stock condition information and survey findings

β€’ Reviewing technical reports and ensuring quality and consistency

β€’ Checking tender submissions, specifications and pricing documentation

β€’ Supporting the development of pricing models and maintaining benchmark cost information

β€’ Working with Quantity Surveying colleagues to assess construction project costs

β€’ Supporting framework, DPS, mini competition and direct call off activity

β€’ Working with contractors, suppliers, consultants and other stakeholders

β€’ Supporting tender scoring and evaluation

β€’ Producing reports covering costs, project milestones, outputs and risk

β€’ Supporting projects relating to Building Safety, Compliance, Decarbonisation, Renewable Technologies and Decent Homes

β€’ Keeping up to date with housing and construction legislation, innovation and best practice

About You

You'll ideally have:

β€’ A relevant degree or significant relevant operational experience

β€’ Experience working for a contractor or public sector housing organisation in a technical and operational capacity

β€’ Experience within affordable/social housing, particularly asset management or technical services

β€’ Knowledge of property maintenance, housing decency and property defects/remediation

β€’ Project management and technical specification experience

β€’ An understanding of Health & Safety and CDM Regulations

β€’ Strong analytical skills and the ability to review technical documents and costs

β€’ Good understanding of cost management and value for money

A

CIOB, RICS, CIAT or equivalent qualification

, construction contract knowledge, procurement/framework experience and knowledge of complex building specifications and pricing models would be advantageous but aren't essential. What's On Offer?

Salary:

Circa Β£30,000 to Β£40,000 DOE

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm

Location:

Birmingham

Holiday:

25 days plus
