Job Purpose
To ensure the safe, effective, and timely decontamination, sterilisation, and preparation of reusable medical devices and surgical instruments in accordance with NHS standards and infection control protocols.
Responsibilities
- Operate washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and other decontamination equipment.
- Inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and medical devices.
- Monitor and record sterilisation cycles and equipment performance.
- Maintain accurate records for traceability and compliance.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Report equipment faults or safety concerns promptly.
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams to meet operational needs.
- Participate in audits and quality assurance activities.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and PPE requirements.
