As we continue to modernise and transform our IT services, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cloud Engineer with a background of coaching and mentoring colleagues, alongside managing and deploying solutions as Infrastructure as code (IAC) in Azure.
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be part of a supportive and skilled team responsible for delivering change to our public cloud (Microsoft Azure). The role requires skills and experience across the Microsoft Azure stack to enable the successful automation, monitoring and management of our Azure environment.
Utilising your skills and experience and bringing knowledge from internal and external sources you will support the Cloud Engineers to implement new ways of working aligned with best practice to develop and run our IT services in the cloud.
You will coach and train Cloud Engineers who are implementing new technologies and processes: ensuring services are configured economically, efficiently and flexibly, with the right level of governance and control to ensure our services and data are safe and secure.

You will be joining the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team, consisting of 6 engineers delivering change for the business using SAFe and Agile. The team focuses on modernising existing systems and building new platform solutions in Azure, while supporting other product teams across the business.

What Will You Be Doing?
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and contributing to High Level Designs for Cloud Infrastructure delivery that meet operational needs, security standards, service levels, resiliency and business change demand. Drafting, reviewing and approving Detailed Level Designs, ensuring they meet our requirements.
- Supporting and coaching our Cloud Engineers.
- Monitoring metrics and adjusting configurations for optimum availability and performance.
- Configuring the cloud platform for required functionality, performance and efficiency.
- Investigating and resolving problems.
What Do We Need From You?
- Relevant knowledge of the system development lifecycle and the service management lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience delivering Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep or Terraform, ideally through Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams, with experience in Scrum, SAFe, or similar methodologies.
- Experience of core Azure services: Active Directory, Management Groups, Subscriptions, vNets, Route Tables, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Application Gateway, Front Door, Key Vault, and monitoring/security tools like Azure Monitor, Policy, and Defender for Cloud.
- Desirable: Experience with python scripting and containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), App services and Azure SQL.
- Agile-minded, optimistic, passionate, and pragmatic about delivering value to customers.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
- A genuine curiosity for technology and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring, helping and coaching colleagues.
