As our Configuration Manager, you will be working with multiple teams to develop the strategies and policies of the Configuration management process. You will implement the agreed process and oversee its effectiveness and efficiency. You will also measure and monitor adherence to standards and ensure consistent execution of the process across the organisation.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Configuration Management
    • Lead and develop configuration management strategies, policies, and procedures.
    • Ensure the configuration items are identified, recorded and tracked.
    • Accountable for CI life cycle from creation to retirement.
  • System Documentation
    • Accountable in maintaining the detailed documentation of system configurations, including hardware, software, network components, Cloud and dependencies.
    • Update configuration records whenever changes are made.
  • Change Management
    • Collaborate with Change Management team to assess the impact of changes on configuration items.
    • Responsible for proper planning, testing and implementation of configuration changes with minimal disruption.
  • Monitoring & Auditing
    • Monitor the configuration of systems to ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulations.
    • Accountable and perform regular audits of configuration management database (CMDB) to verify the accuracy and completeness of records.
  • Incident & Problem Management
    • Responsible for identifying the root causes of incidents and problems related to configuration items.
    • Support IT team in troubleshooting configuration-related issues and ensure that problems are resolved quickly.
  • Automation & Optimisation
    • Own and implement automation tools to streamline configuration management processes and improve efficiency.
    • Continuously look for ways to optimise the configuration of IT systems to enhance performance, security, and reliability.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with other IT teams (e.g., operations, development, security) to ensure configuration management processes align with overall business goals.
    • Provide training and guidance to other team members on configuration management best practices.
  • Compliance & Security
    • Maintain system’s compliance with internal security policies and external regulations.
    • Implement security controls to prevent unauthorized changes to configuration items.
  • Reporting
    • Define KPI / measures for Configuration management process.
    • Generate reports and maintain records for compliance and risk assessment.

What Do We Need From You?

  • Understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, hardware, cloud and software.
  • Experience with Configuration management tool and other monitoring and discovery tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex configuration issues and recommend solutions.
  • Accuracy in maintaining records and ensuring compliance with processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) particularly Configuration management process.
  • A solid understanding of IT systems, infrastructure and services, particularly in relation to Configuration management tools and processes.
  • Previous experience in a Configuration management role.
  • Proficiency in ITSM tools and software.
  • ITIL certification or relevant industry qualifications.
  • Leadership skill: should be able to manage the resources, set priorities and make decisions about the configurations that impact multiple teams.
