We are seeking to appoint a Hub Operational Manager for our Tunbridge Wells Hub. The successful candidate will be required to oversee all operational leadership across the four academies within Skinners' Academies Trust located in Tunbridge Wells – namely The Skinners’ Kent Academy (SKA), Skinners’ Kent Primary School (SKPS), Skinners’ Temple Grove (STG) and The Skinners’ School (SKI) – which will from September 2026 operate as a single “Hub” for operational purposes.
This role will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of HR, IT, estates management and operations in respect of this Hub, and provide expert advice and guidance to its Headteachers and Senior Leadership Teams, ensuring the academies operate effectively and efficiently. The Hub Operations Manager will be accountable to the Trust CFOO for the performance, compliance, policy implementation and ongoing development of the support functions across the Hub academies. Note that finance is not included within the remit of this role (other than local procurement for operational areas), as the core academy finance functions are centralised across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational leadership: Leading and overseeing professional support functions (excluding finance), promoting best practice in these areas and ensuring that policies and procedures are embedded and operating as intended for the best possible use of resources to deliver high expectation outcomes for students.
- Line managing direct reports: Line managing direct reports to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of their areas and their professional development, including appraisal, training and mentoring.
- Overseeing local income generation and business development: Overseeing local income generation and business development, including lettings and commercial ventures, negotiating with third parties as appropriate.
- Managing risk and emergency planning: Managing risk and emergency planning, including maintaining an operational risk register and disaster recovery plans for each Hub academy, and overseeing all insurance arrangements.
- Reporting to Local Governing Bodies: Reporting directly to Local Governing Bodies and sub-committees when requested or necessary on matters relating to operations in the Hub academies.
- Personal attendance in support of major events: Personal attendance in support of major events.
- Working collaboratively: Working collaboratively with the Hub academies and Trust central team.
