Are you an experienced UI Artist with strong game UI implementation skills, ready to help shape a world-class action RPG? We’re supporting a leading first-party AAA studio working on a major open world RPG and looking for an Experienced UI Artist to join the team on a contract basis. This is a hands‑on role focused on implementing visually compelling, intuitive UI that aligns with an established art style — with a strong emphasis on polish, usability, and in‑engine execution.
About the role
As an Experienced UI Artist, you’ll be responsible for creating and implementing high‑quality UI assets using a proprietary engine and tools. You’ll collaborate closely with a cross‑disciplinary team to ensure the interface feels cohesive, readable, and aligned with the overall game vision. This role is ideal for someone with strong artistic instincts, a solid grasp of UI/UX fundamentals, and practical experience implementing UI directly inside a game engine. You’ll be expected to deliver to deadlines, resolve bugs quickly, and contribute to a high‑quality user experience that supports gameplay without getting in the way.
What you’ll be doing:
- UI design and implementation
- Design and implement high‑quality UI assets aligned with an established art style
- Work hands‑on in‑engine to integrate UI and ensure it functions correctly in‑game
- Support UI polish, consistency, readability, and player clarity across the experience
- Ensure UI assets are built with both aesthetic quality and usability in mind
Collaboration and delivery
- Work closely with UI, UX, engineering, design, and production teams
- Deliver tasks on schedule while maintaining a high quality bar
- Troubleshoot and resolve UI bugs and implementation issues efficiently
- Adapt to new tools, workflows, and processes as the project evolves
Quality and iteration
- Maintain strong attention to detail across UI layout, animation, and visual clarity
- Iterate based on feedback and playtesting to improve the user experience
- Help ensure UI supports accessibility and platform requirements where applicable
What we’re looking for:
- Professional experience in game UI development, demonstrated through an online portfolio
- Hands‑on experience implementing UI in one or more game engines
- Strong graphic design skills and a solid understanding of UI/UX principles
- Proficiency with industry tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and XD
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to organise tasks, meet deadlines, and proactively solve problems
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and workflows quickly
Nice to have:
- Experience working with proprietary engines and custom UI toolsets
- Experience working on console games
- Experience on RPG titles or large‑scale AAA projects
What’s on offer:
- Contract opportunity on a major AAA action RPG
- Hybrid studio working model with a modern, state‑of‑the‑art workspace
- Collaborative, supportive, and inclusive culture
- Relocation support if required
If you’re a driven UI Artist who loves hands‑on implementation, cares deeply about polish, and wants to help deliver a genre‑defining RPG experience, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now, or email Joe McKernan.
