Are you an experienced Unity Gameplay Developer with a passion for creating engaging strategy games?
This is an exciting freelance opportunity to join a growing UK studio and contribute to the development of a new IP in collaboration with a leading publisher.
What you\’ll be doing:
- Developing core gameplay systems and features in Unity, including weapons, upgrades, control systems, UI, audio, and metagame mechanics
- Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code using C#
- Collaborating closely with designers, artists, and producers to implement and refine gameplay features
- Troubleshooting, optimising, and improving existing systems to ensure a smooth player experience
- Contributing to creative discussions and helping shape the feel and balance of the game
- Working as part of a talented and collaborative team delivering new experiences within the strategy genre
What we\’re looking for:
- At least 5 years of professional game development experience, with more senior candidates also considered
- Proven track record of shipping multiple PC or console titles
- Strong proficiency in Unity and C# programming
- Experience with ECS/DOTS would be an advantage
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience
- Experience in console development would be beneficial
- Able to work remotely or on a hybrid basis, ideally with some availability to visit the Guildford office
- Operating as an independent freelancer, preferably under an agency or umbrella company
