Chief Financial Officer β Games Publisher | London (Hybrid)
Up to Β£180k base + bonus + significant equity
Skillsearch is partnering with an ambitious, private equity-backed games publisher to appoint a CFO for its next stage of growth.
This is a business with genuine momentum: a portfolio of successful titles across PC, console and mobile, a strong new investment partner and a clear ambition to build a billion-dollar company. The roadmap is mapped out: a first event in around 4β5 years with more to follow and a meaningful equity upside.
They're looking for a finance leader who wants to build, not just maintain, and who wants to be there for the whole journey.
Although you do not have to have a commercial background in Games you must understand the industry and have a genuine demonstrable passion for it to be able to have meaningful conversations with the team
THE ROLE
- Own and drive the M&A agenda: identifying, valuing, negotiating and integrating acquisitions of studios, IP and complementary businesses
- Partner closely with the CEO and board on strategy, capital allocation and investor relations
- Lead the business through future funding and liquidity events
- Scale the finance function as the business grows, including publishing economics such as royalties, revenue share and developer advances
- Provide commercial insight across the portfolio: title performance, platform mix and investment decisions
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Senior finance leadership experience as a CFO, FD, or a strong number two ready to step up
- Real M&A capability. You don't need to have led deals, but you need the experience and appetite to drive an acquisition strategy
- Genuine knowledge of and passion for games. You can talk fluently about platforms, genres and the business models behind them. This isn't a role where you can brush up on the industry
- The ambition to scale a business through multiple growth stages and liquidity events over the long term
- Based in London and able to be in the office regularly
WHAT'S A BONUS
- Games industry experience is welcome but not essential
- Background in adjacent sectors such as creative industries, music, publishing, licensing, tech or any royalty-paying business is highly relevant
WHY JOIN
- A CFO seat in a growing games publisher with a clear, long-term plan
- A substantial equity package at the heart of the offer, with upside at each liquidity event
- A founder-led senior team with real influence on strategy from day one
Our client is building a diverse senior leadership team and strongly encourages applications from people of all backgrounds.
