Are you an AI Systems Architect with a passion for building new technology platforms from the ground up and shaping how artificial intelligence powers the future of mobile games? We’re hiring a Founding AI Systems Architect to define the AI and technical architecture for a new mobile gaming studio. This is a true zero-to-one opportunity for a senior technologist who wants to design the AI foundations of a product and platform from the earliest stages.
About the role
As Founding AI Systems Architect, you will work directly with the founder and early leadership team to design the long-term technology strategy of the company. You will define how AI is integrated across products, build the systems that support it, and ensure the architecture can scale from the first mobile application to a portfolio of Unity-based games. The studio’s first product is a gamified mobile app built around strong free-to-play principles. AI will play a central role in shaping systems for player engagement, personalisation, retention, and live operations.
What you’ll do
- AI architecture and technical strategy
- Define the overall AI architecture supporting the studio’s products and future game portfolio
- Design scalable AI systems that support player engagement, retention, and personalisation
- Architect AI infrastructure and pipelines that integrate with mobile applications and Unity-based games
- Ensure systems are scalable, performant, and suitable for mobile platforms
- AI-driven gameplay and product systems
- Build frameworks that allow player data, behaviour insights, and live operations to inform AI-driven features
- Design systems that support intelligent progression, feature dynamics, and player experience optimisation
- Create tools and frameworks that enable engineers, designers, and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into products
- Platform and infrastructure development
- Design backend systems that integrate AI services into the overall product architecture
- Ensure data pipelines, infrastructure, and AI services support long-term scalability
- Contribute to defining the studio’s modern technology stack for AI-enhanced mobile games
- Founding team leadership
- Play a key role in shaping the company’s long-term technology roadmap
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and design teams
- Help establish engineering standards, architecture patterns, and development practices
What we’re looking for
- Core experience
- Strong background in software engineering and system architecture
- Experience designing and deploying AI or machine learning systems in production environments
- Experience building scalable backend systems and integrating AI services into applications
- Ability to translate product ideas into scalable technical systems
- Technical skills
- Experience integrating AI systems into mobile or interactive applications
- Familiarity with Unity or real-time interactive environments
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, and AI infrastructure
- Nice to have
- Experience in mobile games or free-to-play game development
- Experience building gameplay AI systems or simulation systems
- Experience with personalisation engines, recommendation systems, or player behaviour modelling
- Experience working in early-stage startups or building products from zero
- Experience with generative AI, reinforcement learning, or adaptive gameplay systems
- Experience creating developer tools or AI frameworks used by product teams
