Due to significant growth, Skills for Security, the leading provider of apprenticeships to the Fire and Security sector, are looking to recruit a Commercial Marketing Manager who sees marketing differently. Marketing isn't a support function here. It's a growth function. This isn't a role focused on social media calendars, producing brochures or simply delivering campaigns. We're looking for someone who understands that marketing exists to generate business growth. Someone who asks: How do we attract more learners? How do we generate more employer partnerships? How do we improve conversion? How do we build a stronger employer brand? How do we demonstrate ROI from every pound we invest? If you naturally think this way, we'd love to hear from you.

About us: Skills for Security is one of the UK's leading independent training providers for the Fire & Security industry, delivering apprenticeships, commercial training and digital learning solutions nationwide. We're ambitious. We're growing. We're investing. And we're looking for someone who wants to help shape the next phase of that journey. Reporting directly to our Commercial Director, you'll lead an established marketing team while helping influence wider commercial strategy across the organisation. This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact - not simply manage marketing activity. This role can be based anywhere in the UK, but ideally within commutable distance to Warrington, Watford or Walsall.

What you'll be doing:

  • You’ll take ownership of the organisation's marketing strategy, driving growth across:
    • Apprentice recruitment
    • Employer engagement
    • Commercial training
    • Skills On-Demand
    • Brand development
    • Employer branding and recruitment marketing
  • You’ll also:
    • Lead and develop a talented in‑house marketing team.
    • Create innovative campaigns that deliver measurable commercial outcomes.
    • Build strong relationships across Sales, Education, Operations and People.
    • Develop recruitment marketing campaigns that help attract exceptional talent.
    • Introduce new ideas, challenge convention and continuously improve how we market.
    • Measure everything - from campaign performance through to event ROI - using data to drive smarter decisions.
    • Present marketing performance and commercial insight to senior leaders.

We're looking for someone who...

  • Thinks commercially: You understand sales funnels, lead generation, conversion rates and ROI—not just impressions and engagement. You can demonstrate how your marketing has directly contributed to business growth.
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset: You're curious. You spot opportunities others miss. You generate ideas. You don't wait for permission to improve things. You think like a business owner.
  • Leads with purpose: You enjoy developing people, building high‑performing teams and creating an environment where creativity and accountability thrive.
  • Makes decisions using data: You love creativity - but you love evidence even more. You use insight to improve campaigns, optimise budgets and maximise commercial impact.

What you'll bring:

  • Significant experience leading marketing within a commercial organisation.
  • Experience managing and developing marketing teams.
  • A proven track record of delivering measurable business growth.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience reporting against lead generation, revenue and ROI.
  • Experience managing marketing budgets.
  • Strong digital marketing knowledge across SEO, PPC, CRM, marketing automation and analytics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience within education, apprenticeships, training, engineering, construction or technical sectors would be advantageous, but it isn't essential.

What we offer:

  • Home/hybrid working
  • Competitive salary and company bonus
  • 33 days of annual leave, plus Christmas closure (3 days)
  • Enhanced pension contributions
  • Family friendly working hours
  • Life assurance 3 x salary
  • Refer a friend scheme
  • Development and progression opportunities
  • Funded qualification opportunities

Safer Recruitment: As we accept students under 18 years of age and prioritise their safety, please note the following if we proceed with your application:

  • We will require two references, specifically asking if there is any reason you should not be employed in roles involving responsibility for, or substantial access to, individuals under 18.
  • We will need a satisfactory explanation for any gaps in your CV.
  • A DBS check will be required before confirming your appointment.
  • If appointed, we will need to see your passport or other proof of identity and your original certificates.
