Skills Trades Training is seeking a dedicated Electrical Tutor to join Skills Group in Christchurch, where you will play a key role in supporting learner achievement through engaging teaching, practical course facilitation, and effective assessment. This is an exciting opportunity to pass on your industry expertise, deliver hands-on learning, and help learners gain the skills, confidence, and qualifications that lead to real career opportunities.
What you will be doing:
- Deliver engaging, industry-relevant electrical training across apprentice block and industry courses.
- Assess learner progress, complete marking within required timeframes, and deliver teaching in line with approved learning resources.
- Support learners through coaching, encouragement, and academic guidance to help them succeed in their studies and future careers.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of programme delivery, teaching practice, and learning materials.
- Maintain a safe, organised, and well-equipped training centre that supports effective learning.
- Model and promote excellent health and safety practice, including timely reporting of incidents, hazards, and near misses.
What you will bring:
- NZ Electrical Registration is essential (Full Practising Licence, Inspectors Licence or Electrical Engineering Degree).
- Strong practical experience within the electrical industry.
- Hold 4098 and unit standard 11551 or be working towards these (if you don’t hold these or aren’t working towards these we can support as part of your development).
- Experience in tertiary teaching or training is desirable but not essential and development will be provided.
- Strength in student engagement, coaching and communication.
- Good organisational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a campus based team.
