Skills for Care is looking for experienced trustees to join the board This is a pivotal time for adult social care.
The Government has set out its ambition for significant reform of adult social care, including proposals for a National Care Service and greater recognition of the social care workforce.
That ambition reflects the fact that there can be no sustainable reform of care without a sustainable, skilled and valued workforce.
Skills for Care is the only national charity focused on building a stronger workforce for the quality adult social care we all need.
We work with employers, Government and partners to ensure social care has the right people, skills and support required to deliver high-quality care and support now and in the future.
Through workforce development, workforce intelligence and system leadership, we help shape and support the workforce changes needed to meet current and future demand.
Skills for Care is playing a leading role in delivering the Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care in England and supporting employers to attract, retain, develop and lead a skilled, confident and valued workforce.
We are seeking to appoint two new trustees to join our board and are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who can bring either current experience of working within a medium or large provider of adult social care services; or lived experience of drawing on care and support services.
Alongside this, we are keen to strengthen the range of expertise on our Board and would particularly welcome candidates with experience in commercial, digital transformation, finance and audit, or skills, learning and development.
We are looking for people who are passionate about adult social care and can bring valuable insight, experience and perspective to help shape the strategic direction of Skills for Care.
We are committed to increasing the diversity of our board and welcome applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
You will need to be available to attend four in-person board meetings a year, plus an annual strategy day with a similar number of committee meetings (virtual).
The position is unremunerated, but expenses are paid for meetings that will be held in London or Leeds.
