We are recruiting a permanent, full time, Cyber Security Governance Lead. Help shape the future of cyber security for Scotland’s skills and enterprise ecosystem at a pivotal time of digital transformation. Join Skills Development Scotland (SDS) as Cyber Security Governance Lead, where you’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding national digital services.

This is your opportunity to lead a critical function across SDS and our enterprise partners: Scottish Enterprise (SE), Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), and South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE).

About You and the Role

A forward-thinking cyber security professional with proven experience in security governance, assurance, compliance, and risk management, you’ll bring strong expertise in applying recognised cyber frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, CE+, and the NIS CAF. Confident engaging with senior stakeholders you’ll have the ability to translate complex security risks into clear, actionable governance decisions. You’ll demonstrate strong leadership and people management capabilities, ideally gained within a public sector or shared services environment. You’ll also have a solid understanding of key cyber security domains including vulnerability management, assurance frameworks, and incident response coordination.

We’re looking for a Cyber Security Governance Lead to play a key role in strengthening how we protect our digital environment and support secure service delivery across SDS and our partner organisations. In this role, you’ll provide senior technical leadership across cyber assurance and security operations, helping us improve our security posture, respond to evolving threats, and embed strong governance and risk management practices.

Working under the strategic direction of the Information Security Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of high-quality security assessment, monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management and compliance activity. You’ll also support the development of future-focused cyber capabilities, ensuring our controls, processes and technologies continue to meet organisational needs. This role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by enhancing organisational resilience, supporting secure digital transformation, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement across our cyber capability. Your leadership will enhance assurance maturity, support succession planning, and ensure continuity.

Where you’d be based

This role can be located at any of our SDS locations, although occasional travel to Glasgow offices will be required. SDS are working to a hybrid working model, therefore the successful applicant is expected to work from both home and an SDS workplace on a regular basis.
