About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to join our team in Chesterfield. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of automation and control systems projects, from initial concept through to commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, clients, and system integration partners to deliver high-quality automation solutions on time and within budget. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable project manager with a strong background in industrial automation and control systems who is comfortable managing projects independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage automation and control systems projects from planning through execution, commissioning, and final delivery.
- Take ownership of project schedules, budgets, risks, and resources to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Coordinate with engineering teams on the design and implementation of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
- Oversee system integration activities and ensure solutions meet technical and operational requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all project documentation, reporting, and change management processes are maintained.
- Support testing, commissioning, and site acceptance activities where required.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in project delivery and automation solutions.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience managing automation or control systems projects.
- Strong technical understanding of PLC, SCADA, and HMI platforms.
- Experience with industrial system integration and automation solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to independently run and deliver projects from start to finish.
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable (Nice to Have)
- Previous leadership or team management experience.
