Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) 12-month contract, 37.5/hrs week.
Our client is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing next-generation, programmed T cell therapies for the treatment of cancer. The Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining specialist laboratory, analytical equipment, and facility installations to support our Research & Development, Process Development and Translational team at MediaWorks.
The engineer will be primarily responsible for:
- Equipment breakdown repairs & ongoing maintenance work of laboratory & analytical equipment and associated utility systems.
- Developing engineering processes and systems including asset management, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Planning and completing a range of reactive & planned maintenance works associated within the lab.
- Supporting assessment, identification, ordering and maintaining critical spares.
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with all EHS, quality and statutory regulations and best practices.
They will work closely with Lab Operations, Facilities and Scientific Groups at MediaWorks to maximise equipment uptime and support the organisation's critical activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing a daily health check of laboratory equipment and monitoring systems and ensuring non-compliances are reported and dealt with in a timely manner.
- Responding to CAPA actions to ensure timely close out of all Quality issues associated with Engineering and Facilities.
- Supporting control and monitoring systems.
- Delivering improvement projects related to control and instrumentation as needed.
- Acting as main point of contact on assigned external service providers and managing their deliverables on behalf of the engineering team.
- Maintaining the asset care plan up to date, and ensuring suppliers and contractors are booked in advance to attend site to maintain, calibrate, repair equipment.
- Managing contractors on site, monitoring, managing and reviewing activities and subsequent paperwork and reports.
- Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance.
- Using manuals and failure history to develop preventative tasks.
- Maintaining and recording reactive and planned maintenance records on to the CMMS and engineering library.
- Providing operator training as necessary.
- Liaising with Media Works engineering & building management team to ensure activities are performed effectively & safely.
- Owning, managing and administering assigned engineering systems as needed.
- Providing engineering support for wider project activities within the teams.
- Providing in-house cleaning, calibration, and maintenance activities for equipment.
- Supporting the engineering team in implementation and maintenance of the CMMS system.
- Owning identification, risk assessment and plan implementation of control measures surrounding hazardous tasks related to laboratory activities.
- Owning creation, implementation and training of emergency and on-call procedures to be followed on environmental monitoring systems & LN2 generation.
- Managing stocks of critical engineering spares and equipment.
- Writing, reviewing and updating maintenance SOPs and one-point lessons for equipment and monitoring and utility systems.
- Supporting site projects as assigned.
- Providing support to Facilities, lab operations and Capital Project Engineering as required.
Experience required:
- Managing and performing planned preventive maintenance.
- Computer literate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Document generation and review.
- Knowledge of current standards, procedures, & controls for GxP facilities and equipment.
- Pharmaceutical Utility systems knowledge – HVAC, Medical gases (CO2, O2, N2) etc.
- Experience in GLP standard quality management systems.
- Project management experience.
- Electrical, Instrumentation and Control system experience.
