Our client is one of the largest facilities management and maintenance contractors in the UK, offering market leading opportunities for talented professionals looking for long term career progression. Due to an increase in upcoming projects, there is now a need for a Quantity Surveyor to join this highly successful and forward-thinking organisation. We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who wants to work in a diverse role where no two days are the same.
Responsibilities
- Maintain governance policies, commercial transparency and robust commercial practices.
- Prepare and submit applications and invoices on time to support positive project cash flow.
- Price, negotiate and agree contract variations to maximise project value.
- Identify, prepare and secure loss and expense entitlements.
- Support budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, overhead reviews and monthly reporting.
- Negotiate commercial terms with clients and third parties; support tendering activities across sales, pre‑construction, operations and finance.
- Prepare subcontractor enquiry documentation, assess commercial tender returns and coordinate technical appraisals.
- Produce and issue subcontract order documentation.
- Maintain and forecast subcontractor accounts; measure value, agree variations and assess claims including prolongation or loss and expense.
- Proactively manage and develop the supply chain throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build productive relationships with clients, consultants and end users.
- Lead monthly CVR processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Maintain high‑quality project documentation and update as required.
- Conduct audits and inspections of supply chain agreements.
- Provide commercial advice and support to the Operations Team.
- Support the development and mentoring of junior commercial staff.
- Oversee multiple contracts in line with company procedures and KPIs, including forecasting and budget control.
- Monitor project performance, mitigate risk and manage potential commercial disputes.
- Work with senior leadership to support wider business growth and development.
- Working with both main contractors and subcontractors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
- RICS accredited or working toward chartership (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an MEP Quantity Surveying or Senior QS role.
- Exceptional organisational, commercial and administrative abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Payapps or similar platforms is advantageous.
- Professional approach with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Strong contract administration experience.
- Proven experience managing and securing time‑and cost‑based variations.
