This is not an Architectural Design/Building Services company. Our client is a fabulous and well-established organisation and are specialists within their field. They are seeking someone who is looking for a full-time and office-based role within a CAD-based role. They tailor their products to customer requirements and manage the entire process from concept to delivery.

This position could suit someone looking to acquire their second job role and gain the varied experience that a small company can offer. Someone with less experience would be considered if they can demonstrate they are keen to learn, self-motivated, and driven to boost their skillset.

This CAD Designer role is crucial to the smooth running of the company’s design and administrative processes. This is a role which can evolve within the business and requires a versatile employee who is happy to assist and add value to the organisation, plus be proactive and look for areas of the business which could be improved, as well as implement ways to do so.

Previous experience and familiarity with ArtiCAD or another CAD software is essential, but training will be given.

General Role Requirements:
  • Ability to develop within the role.
  • Previous experience in CAD design and willingness to learn new software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Confident speaking on the telephone and good customer service skills.
  • Good attention to detail and time management.
  • Process driven but able to use initiative when required.
  • A team player with the ability to manage assigned tasks independently.
  • A multi-tasker and able to handle pressure when busy, e.g., during sales promotions.
  • An interest in learning and self-development.
  • An interest in social media and business development.
Specific Role Requirements:
  • Experience working with CAD software to create technical drawings and renders (training will be given on our client's specific CAD software).
  • Good spatial awareness within design.
  • Ability to produce detailed technical drawings and estimates with a high level of precision, according to the sales team’s specifications.
  • Committed to working closely with the sales team to convert estimates into orders.
  • Ability to familiarise yourself with product ranges to communicate them and their design options to customers.
  • Be confident communicating with customers by telephone and e-mail to answer their queries, note and make any amendments they require to their designs, and keep them informed as to the progress of their order.
  • Able to conduct showroom appointments with customers, identify their needs and budgetary requirements, and offer them design solutions.
  • Be thorough, with great attention to detail. This is essential to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Be able to follow CAD and administrative processes already set in place by the company and suggest improvements to them if necessary.
  • Undertake other duties, such as process-related administration and assisting the warehouse with any order queries they may have.
  • Wear smart-casual dress (as the role would require conducting showroom appointments).
  • Be keen to provide excellent customer service.

Please note that our client is not a bespoke company, and the designs will be pre-designed by one of their sales team. However, design recommendations can be made by their CAD Designers, and there is scope to assist with producing design ideas for social media output, e.g., creating innovative solutions for lifestyle choices, confined spaces, study areas, storage methods, etc.

There will be a dog in the office at times, so you will need to be comfortable with this.
