The Position

Are you looking for something different? Do you have a sense of adventure? General Practitioner required for a small island in the Eastern South Pacific ocean, close to the Gambier Islands of French Polynesia. In your role you will serve as the sole GP responsible for general sickness/illness to the island and its 45 permanent residents, as well as being confident to handle medical emergencies in a remote situation. Ideally, you will have a wide field of experience and knowledge, and have worked in small & isolated communities previously.

The appointment starts in September 2026 for a period of 6 months, although longer terms can be accepted. Package includes use of a two-bedroom house, quad bikes, travel to and from the island. You will have access to the internet, a NZ phone linked system and 24/7 support from UK health service providers based in Auckland.

Essential Criteria

  • You must hold full GMC and be on the GMC GP Register in the UK.
  • You must have current experience working as a General Practitioner in the UK.
