Are you working in construction or building services and thinking: "I want to move into Technical Services... but I don't have direct experience yet?" This role is designed for exactly that step. The only MUST is that you have some main contractor experience within construction / fit-out.
My client is looking for an Assistant Technical Services Manager to work directly alongside a Senior Technical Services Manager, learning the role properly while supporting the delivery of high-profile M&E packages across London. The projects you'll be exposed to include:
- Laboratory fit-out projects within leading London hospitals
- Large commercial developments
- Some of the most recognisable buildings on London's skyline
This is hands-on exposure to real, technically challenging projects, not a paper-pushing role.
What you'll be doing (with full support & mentoring):
- Assisting a Senior Technical Services Manager with day-to-day technical delivery
- Supporting M&E design coordination (mechanical & electrical)
- Helping manage technical submittals, RFIs and design queries
- Coordinating drawings, specifications and design changes
- Liaising with consultants, subcontractors and internal site teams
- Learning how Technical Services links design, commercial and construction
You'll be trained, mentored and developed, with responsibility increasing as your confidence grows.
Ideal background (experience not essential):
- You could be a Project Engineer / Graduate Engineer
- A Site Engineer or Supervisor looking to move off site
- From a mechanical or electrical trade wanting a long-term management path
- Educated in Building Services / Engineering / Construction (helpful, not essential)
- No prior Technical Services experience required
- Strong attitude, organisation and willingness to learn are key
Why this role stands out:
- Direct mentorship from a Senior TSM
- Exposure to complex healthcare & landmark commercial projects
- Clear progression to Technical Services Manager
- Long-term career path in M&E delivery
