Skilled Careers are currently recruiting for a Stonemason in Manchester M2 to start ASAP for ongoing work on a restoration project consisting of stone work.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Blue CSCS
  • Must be able to provide references from previous employers

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Stonemason to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in masonry and demonstrate proficiency in working with various materials, including stone, brick, and concrete. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret design specifications accurately. The Stonemason will play a crucial role in constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures, ensuring high-quality workmanship that meets industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and repair stone structures, including walls, patios, and pathways.
  • Lay bricks and blocks according to specifications, ensuring alignment and level.
  • Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to shape and finish stone materials.
  • Collaborate with architects and designers to understand project requirements.
  • Perform masonry work on residential and commercial projects.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out minor carpentry tasks as needed for project completion.
  • Assist with roofing projects where masonry skills are applicable.
  • Engage in welding tasks when required for structural integrity.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Stonemason or in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools such as chisels, hammers, and trowels.
  • Experience with bricklaying techniques and masonry practices.
  • Familiarity with power tools commonly used in masonry work.
  • Basic carpentry skills are advantageous for completing various construction tasks.
  • Knowledge of roofing principles is beneficial for integrated projects involving stonework.
  • Welding experience is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is important.
