Senior Quantity Surveyor Somerset Up to £85,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Flexible Working A leading Tier One Main Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a flagship construction project in Somerset. The project is a major new-build student accommodation scheme for a prestigious UK university, comprising approximately 960 student bedrooms, alongside extensive communal, social and study facilities. The development also has a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a high-profile project and take a key role within an experienced commercial team. The Role You will be responsible for the commercial management of key packages, working closely with the project and commercial teams, client and supply chain. Key responsibilities include: Managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account Subcontract procurement, tendering and negotiation Cost reporting, forecasting and financial control Valuations, payments and cash flow management Managing variations and commercial change Risk and opportunity management Preparing and agreeing final accounts Building strong relationships with subcontractors and project stakeholders Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff About You We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with: Proven experience with a Tier One or leading Main Contractor Experience working on major building projects Strong commercial and contractual knowledge Experience managing significant subcontract packages Excellent procurement and negotiation skills Strong cost reporting and forecasting experience Good knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts Relevant degree or professional qualification desirable Experience across student accommodation, residential, education, healthcare or commercial projects would be advantageous.
