We're recruiting for an ambitious Senior Engineer to oversee engineering delivery across 2–4 live projects in Central London, with a clear pathway into a Project Manager / Engineering Manager position by the end of the year.

This is more than a traditional setting-out role. You'll play a key part in delivering technically challenging projects while developing into a leadership position, managing a team of 2–5 engineers and taking ownership of the engineering function across multiple schemes.

About the Role

Working across a portfolio of projects within Zone 1 London, you'll be responsible for leading the engineering function, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and to programme.

Projects typically include:

  • New build commercial developments.
  • Heavy structural works.
  • Complex cut-and-carve refurbishments.
  • Multi-million-pound city-centre construction projects.

You'll work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Design Teams, and Commercial Teams, becoming a key technical lead across your projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all engineering and setting-out activities across 2–4 live projects.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate engineering resources and subcontractors.
  • Review drawings and resolve technical and buildability issues.
  • Maintain QA documentation and as-built records.
  • Mentor and support Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and design teams.
  • Drive engineering standards and best practice across multiple sites.
  • Progress into managing a team of 2–5 engineers while supporting overall project delivery.

About You

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience working for a main contractor.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on commercial or structural projects.
  • Strong setting-out skills using Leica, Trimble, or equivalent equipment.
  • Experience delivering complex structural or refurbishment projects.
  • The confidence to work across multiple live schemes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • The ambition to move into Project Management in the near future.

What's on Offer

  • Salary up to £75,000 plus an excellent package.
  • Genuine progression into a Project Manager / Engineering Manager role.
  • Responsibility across 2–4 prestigious Zone 1 London projects.
  • The opportunity to build and lead your own engineering team.
  • Exposure to technically complex commercial and structural projects.
  • Long-term career development with a growing, well-established main contractor.

If you're looking for a role that combines technical engineering, leadership, and a genuine route into project management, we'd love to hear from you.
