I am working with a leading commercial fit out contractor to recruit an experienced Document Controller for their London team. The vacancy is being created to replace an existing Document Controller who will be leaving the business in November to go travelling. The client is therefore looking to begin interviews from the end of August / early September, with the successful candidate ideally starting towards the end of October to allow for a smooth handover.

This is a permanent, fully site based role. The business does not offer hybrid working, so candidates must be comfortable working five days per week across live construction projects.

The successful candidate will manage document control across up to four live projects at any one time, depending on the size and value of the schemes. Projects are located across London and, due to the nature of the pipeline, specific future project locations cannot be confirmed at this stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all project documentation across multiple live construction projects
  • Maintain accurate document registers, drawing registers and revision records
  • Upload, issue, track and distribute drawings, specifications and technical information
  • Ensure project teams are working from the latest approved information
  • Manage incoming and outgoing project correspondence
  • Maintain organised electronic filing and document management systems
  • Liaise closely with Project Managers, site teams, consultants and subcontractors
  • Support the project teams with document control procedures and compliance
  • Assist with project handover documentation and close out information
  • Ensure all project information is correctly filed, archived and easily accessible
  • Manage document control requirements across up to four projects simultaneously

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous Document Control experience within construction
  • Experience working on live building sites
  • Strong knowledge of construction documentation and project processes
  • Experience using an electronic document management system
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Confidence working directly with site based project teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience using Aconex would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Candidates with experience using systems such as Procore, Asite, 4Projects or similar construction document management platforms will also be considered.

This role is specifically focused on Document Control within a construction environment. The client is not looking for candidates whose experience is predominantly Office Management or general administration.

Package

Salary: £45,000. In addition, travel costs are covered through the reimbursement of a monthly travel card.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a highly established commercial fit out contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across London and experienced, well structured project teams. The successful candidate will become an important part of the delivery team, supporting multiple projects while working closely with Project Managers and site teams across the business.

  • Permanent position
  • £45,000 + monthly travel card expenses
  • 5 days per week on site
  • No hybrid working
  • Up to 4 projects at any one time
  • Projects located across London
  • Interviews from end of August / early September
  • Target start date: end of October
